Cloud Platform
AWS Learning Resources [2026]
AWS is the dominant cloud platform — the largest share of the market, and a substantial lead in enterprise trust. Two hundred services span every layer of the stack: compute (EC2, Lambda), storage (S3, the universal object store), relational databases (RDS), NoSQL (DynamoDB), managed Kubernetes (EKS), and more specialized services than any single engineer will ever use. Most applications touch a small subset: EC2 or Lambda, S3, RDS or DynamoDB, and a load balancer. The AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certification is the most recognized cloud credential globally, and studying for it is genuinely the most efficient path to understanding cloud infrastructure concepts regardless of which provider you end up deploying to.
- ✓AWS certifications — especially Solutions Architect Associate — are widely recognised by employers and strengthen the case for higher-paying backend and DevOps roles.
- ✓Named in more of the job postings we track than Azure or Google Cloud, making it a high-return infrastructure skill to acquire after Docker.
- ✓Enables you to independently architect, deploy, and operate full production systems — a capability that unlocks senior and staff-level engineering roles.
- ✓AWS skills are a prerequisite for Kubernetes on EKS, serverless with Lambda, and data pipelines on EMR or Glue — the modern backend and data engineering stack.
